Caliente Cando Muddy Jumps One aka Muddy is looking for a new forever home. He is an intact male who will be neutered before being placed in his new home. He is six years old as of 11/28/17, stands a proud 23 inches tall and is 63 lbs of love to the right home. He is striking in red with white trim.
Muddy, like all dogs, has both charming and not-so-charming qualities. He loves people and is very affectionate. He is good with older kids but not a lot of experience with young children. He loves being massaged and scratched, especially tummy rubs and butt scratches. Like many dogs, he’s not crazy about having his paws handled and will pull away when he is not comfortable. Of course being a CD, Muddy is a barker. Muddy has been to many classes: obedience, agility, reality romp, and tricks class. All of his training is positive behavior training with positive reinforcement. He is crate trained, leash trained and housebroken. He is fairly friendly around new people and quite obedient in house, fenced yard, and on leash. Like most CDs he is quite independent and is not reliable off leash to come when called. Muddy initially went from his breeder’s family to his current home to be a member of another Canaan Dog breeder’s family. He has lived with his current owner since he was eight weeks old. However, he has turned out to be unsuitable for breeding as he is straight in the rear and he has developed dog-dog aggressive behavior despite many attempts to rehabilitate him. Owner cannot just neuter him and keep him as a pet because of the other dogs in her kennel. Muddy needs a firm but gentle hand. He cannot be trusted off leash with other dogs; he has and will attack. If he is in a fenced in yard to run, it must be a sturdy, high fence because he will try to get to the other side if another dog is present. He should not be left alone for any length of time in the yard unsupervised. His dog-dog aggression is problematic but not insurmountable with the right owner(s) in the right home. Ultimately Muddy is a wonderful dog who needs a pet-free home in which he can be loved for just being himself. Ideally, his new family would be a strong man, woman or couple who have experience with dog behavior and positive reinforcement training methodology.
